Description
This activity allows students to integrate art while learning about personification. It has colorful visuals, a section for a pre-informal formative writing assessment to tap on their prior knowledge about Figurative Language/ Figures of Speech: Personification. It includes cloze notes scaffolding for opportunities to practice visualization and interpreting the meaning of sample sentences using personification. It has a peer /guided activity for students to add human qualities/characteristics/or feelings to things or animals, encourages sketching or choosing a graphic design of an animal or thing that has been personified as the example of a giraffe wearing headphones. The formulating sentences section includes images/clip arts. Student may use the cornell notes section as a study guide or during the extended activity for them to apply their knowledge by creating a storyboard using personification with vivid descriptions and illustrate their short story. It is a great way to promote creative writing skills and teach about personification to all students in a friendly and scaffolded approach extremely beneficial to all learning populations as well as ELD populations learning English as a second language.
