Passion Project Organizers and Rubrics

I designed this unit specifically to challenge and engage my “Fast Finishers,” or students who need more enrichment. It’s purpose is to give them the opportunity to explore the things in which they are most interested, in effect, giving them the tools to take responsibility for their own learning.

In this research section of the “Passion Project,” students are encouraged to explore many interests, then narrow it down to one particular interest to research and present. They begin by organizing what they already know, and can gain new information from books, the internet, and other students.

In the organizing section, students use what they learned from the research to start preparing a final product.

The presenting section contains a “Final Copy” paper for a written presentation, as well as sample grading rubrics.

*This project will definitely take some time and direction from you. However, once students have been through the process a few times, it can be more self-directed.
