LowRider: Recorder and Movement Activity/Concert Showstopper

This presentation takes you and your students right through the process of learning a Recorder Melody and Movements to go with the song "LowRider" by War. This piece is awesome for a concert performance, but can also be used as a fun activity to learn an easy melody using B-G-F (or a more advanced one using B-G-F-C-D), some harmony, and movement to show how you can express a song's meaning. There is even an informational safe video link about LowRider cars that my 4th and 5th graders have always enjoyed!

The audio file for "LowRiders" is not included due to copyright issues, but it is readily available. Before starting with students, please be sure to listen to the song. The rhythm is not included in the file, but is easily repeated after listening.

This is meant to be used in a presentation format on an IWB or projected on a screen. However, you are more than welcome to teach the entire song and movements by rote!
