Description

What better time to explore love poems and songs than during the month of February or for Valentine’s Day? This unit packet is complete with extensive notes on literary devices (Author’s Style), literal and figurative language, poetry devices and theme. Eleven famous poems and songs are analyzed, exploring a wide variety from Shakespeare’s sonnets to contemporary songs of love.

These lessons are scaffolded and differentiated; teacher determines the groups, poems/songs and the level of analysis. Answer keys explain the meaning and themes of poems and also details literary devices. Easy to modify and excellent material for enrichment groups as well. Duration depends on teacher objectives and how deep the teacher wants to go with the lessons, generally from one to four class sessions at a minimum, but could also last one-two weeks. Kid tested, teacher approved! Yours from Paradise Unlimited New England!
