LEVELED: Lesson plans are structured, sequential, and cumulative. Carefully chosen words contain only concepts previously taught. The levels begin with simple, common words and progress towards more complex and rare spellings in level five.

USER-FRIENDLY AND AFFORDABLE: Simplified teaching instruction and one-page lesson plans make teaching straightforward and enjoyable! Scripted charts are not required.

    LESSON PLANS (PER LEVEL) INCLUDE:

    LEVEL ONE - 55 pages

    LEVEL TWO - 93 pages

    LEVEL THREE - 90 pages

    LEVEL FOUR - 68 pages

    LEVEL FIVE - 55 pages

All students, regardless of age, should start at Level One to ensure a solid foundation. Begin when a student knows most letter sounds and names and can blend three-letter words with some proficiency.

Description of each level (sold separately or as a bundle):

Level One starts with learning about blends and digraphs. We use syllable types and syllable division to teach about long and short vowel sounds. Spelling rules, such as beginning and ending with the sound of /k/, are essential lessons in Level One. We end with basic grammar and an introduction to prefixes and suffixes.

Level Two mainly deals with Anglo-Saxon spelling rules and some exceptions to the rules. We introduce vowel teams and R-controlled words. Level Two ends with the meanings of prefixes, suffixes, and base words, and students learn how to add suffixes using the Doubling Rule.

Level Three examines Anglo-Saxon, Latin, and French influences that affect our understanding and spelling of English words. Lessons include adding suffixes to words ending with -e and -y.

Level Four primarily teaches Latin and French origins and their effect on English word spellings, sounds, and syllable divisions. We study many affixes and roots at the end of level four.

Level Five encompasses rare Anglo-Saxon, Latin, French, and Greek spellings of sounds. Greek word parts are the focus at the end of level five.

PRACTICE WORKSHEETS: For many concepts that need more time to master, worksheets give the student an opportunity to apply their new knowledge or review if needed.

SUGGESTIONS TO ORGANIZE AND REUSE LESSONS:

•Keep lessons in sheet protectors secured in a binder.

•Attach cards with two-way tape to the back of the corresponding lesson for easy and quick retrieval.

•Remove the day's lesson and allow the student to underline the concept, vowel sounds, or syllable division with a fine point dry-erase marker before reading. Keep the student’s dictation sheet on file after adding notes for the day and plans for the next session.

•Write the student’s name at the top of a long strip of cardstock, punch it with three holes and place it in the binder to easily find their next lesson.
