What educators are saying

This career survey is perfect for students with the most significant disabilities. It allowed my students to access transition assessments and transition planning and is a part of their transition portfolio. Great resource!

Description

Special education students and life skill students need to be exposed to possible future employment/vocational opportunities earlier and earlier. As special educators, it is our responsibility to help our students determine what job they may like in the future early, so that they have ample amount of time to become proficient at that job. This resource focuses on 26 different careers with real photographs of each career depicted, to ensure it is age appropriate and not too childish for your students. Even if your students are unable to work as one of the specific professions (ex. Doctor), their interest in this career will guide you into helping them find a job in a medical office or working in some capacity at a hospital.

This resource includes:

2 Student Surveys (job interest assessments)

26 Career Posters

26 Flash Cards (photo & career written on)

Matching game (Photo cards to be matched with flash card of definition)

4 Point Boards (for nonverbal students to point to their preferred jobs)

26 Worksheets for students to write what they think they would like/dislike about a specific job

Careers included: Mechanic, Nurse, News Reporter, Minister, Firefighter, Hair Stylist, Farmer, Doctor, Dentist, Crossing Guard, Astronaut, Construction Worker, Scientist, Pharmacist, Police Officer, Rabbi, Sailor, Soldier, Judge, Veterinarian, Utility Worker, Teacher, Weather Reporter, Artist, Lawyer, and Chef.
