I created this document as a script for my students who lead morning announcements on our PK-5 campus. The script outlines ten days of "fast facts" about the history of Hispanic Heritage Month, as well as notable achievements by Hispanic Americans.
(The information contained within this script was gathered from various internet sources and articles, including www.army.mil, share.america.gov, gpb.org, hispanichertiagemonth.gov, texastribune.org, and census.gov.)
Tips:
1. I recommend you add information that is more specific to your community (or state, as I have included some information specific to Texas in this particular script).
2. Feel free to break the information up into more days so that you can cover the entire month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15-Oct 15), or add more information yourself!
3. Have students take ownership of reading these over the morning announcements, and encourage dialogue about these topics during common or passing periods.
