Grades K-2 Non-Fiction Writing Exemplars

Here are all the non-fiction exemplars for kindergarten, first grade and second grade. Use the exemplar written by the teacher to show students writing expectations and use it to model each craft with your mini-lesson. You can also use them to compare writing levels of each grade and pace your instruction. The exemplars are aligned with the Common Core State Standards and TEKS on skills and elements of non-fiction writing. Follow the instruction and choose the appropriate booklet by grade level or writing levels for your students (Ex. English Language Learners, students with special needs and lower level writers)
