Description
Get your Personal Finance students out of their seats with this 6-task investing escape room activity. Students will research stock symbols, calculate a capital gain, answer questions about investing strategies and terminology, analyze asset allocation for a mutual fund, and put themselves in the role of a financial planner to address a client. Students will work with a partner or small group and race to complete the tasks. By solving the cases they will "clock out before the market closes". For this activity, students need to have a working knowledge of investments.
Escape rooms engage students, mix up the typical routine, and promote collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving. This activity does NOT require any physical locks. Students will use a self-checking digital form to input answers.

How it works
- Print the activity card set.
- The cards are grouped by locks. Position the cards that are the same lock type together in stations around your classroom. You can tape them to the wall or place them on a table.
- Students will move around the room to each station to solve each lock.
- Students record their responses on the included worksheet.
- Students input their responses into the provided digital form.
- The digital form is self-checking and will tell students if they have escaped or missed an answer that they need to go back and check.
Materials Needed:
- Printer (to print one set of the activity cards)
- A device with a camera to scan QR codes (ex. QR code links to the digital form)
- Optional: Calculators
