Description

This is a short "movie talk" unit for all levels of French classes, using the Disney/ Pixar short animated movie called "Partly Cloudy". You can find the video on Youtube, on Vimeo and on other sites. It's 5 minutes long, and different versions have different background music and sound effects. Find one you like! Copyright issues prevent me from including it in this unit.

The video is a charmer: how storks deliver babies to human and animal families. The storks go to the clouds to get the babies. Most clouds make perfectly wonderful babies (humans, kittens, puppies, chicks, etc.) but one cloud is given the task of making difficult babies (sharks, porcupines, alligators, etc.), and his stork has a hard time delivering the babies....

This unit includes the following
- Teacher lesson plans, complete, for three levels of French classes (I, II, and III/IV)
-French I worksheets (2 different ones) with Quiz and Quiz keys
-French II worksheets (2 different ones) with screenshots, Workshheet key and Quiz and Quiz key
- French III / IV worksheets (2 different ones) with screenshots, worksheet key, Quiz, and Quiz key
- Worksheets for homework for all three levels: match the screenshot to the sentence, and then write
- Four pages of screenshots, which divide the 5 minute video into four "scenes". These go along with the worksheets and other activities

There are 51 pages, total, of material, written in Microsoft Word. I currently use Windows 8.1 but this version of Word is compatible with all previous versions too.

The unit takes approximately 4 days, but this may vary depending on your schedule and your classes.

The unit is taught using TPRS "movie talk" techniques, but my lesson plans are thorough enough that a non-TPRS teacher could easily follow them to have a short break, full of good conversational exposure, for the classes.

In the French II and the French III / IV levels, there is an accent on the past tense: Passé Composé and L'imparfait. In level 2 it is more introductory in nature, and in the advanced ones, it is more review in nature.

Enjoy this fun unit! My students sure did love it! Cautionary note: Please take a minute and speak to your classes about the old-time way that people used to say where babies come from.... they were delivered by storks! If you don't do this, the kids may not "get" the whole concept of the video. (:-) )
