What educators are saying

My students loved this unit! It was great to see them really enjoy and get into the creative writing process!
Great resource with stories that are age appropriate and engaging. My students loved reading/discussing them, as well as writing their own fairy tales.

    Description

This is a bundle of all the products I created to use with my students for our narrative writing Fractured Fairy Tale Unit! My suggested use of the products is as follows:

    1. Use the "Fractured Fairy Tale Writing Project" to introduce the narrative unit (directions included in product)

    2. Use the Elements of a Fairy Tale with the presentation and guided notes.

    3. Use the "Writing Project" file to read 6 classic fairy tales adapted from Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm while guiding students through each with the graphic organizer included.

    4. Read the modern fractured fairy tale entitled "Confessions of a Sea Witch" and compare and contrast it with "The Little Mermaid" (included)

    5. Have students brainstorm their own fractured fairy tale using the Fairy Tale Plot Chart included in the bundle OR use the plot chart to organize the original fairy tales

    6. After the project, use the Maleficent film guide as a bonus fractured fairy tale and fun end to their writing unit!

Disclaimer: This bundle is intended for upper middle school grades and high school students due to the mature themes of some of the fairy tales.
