Factoring Quadratics Cheat-Code - New Method Lesson, HW, Forms Quiz
Description
Do you need a new method to help students master factoring quadratic expressions where a is not 1? This method has a bit of a trick, a cheat-code, that makes it fun, easy, and predictable for students. No more guess and check, or re-writing to use factor by grouping. Those methods are still useful and should be taught (at least according to my opinion), but this is a game-changing technique that will unlock a lot of mathematics for students.
This resource is for students who already have familiarity with factoring quadratics. This resource includes a lesson and worksheet, the worksheet includes a section that students can use to fill out reference notes, and also a short Google Forms Quiz.
The way I'd suggest using this information would be to use the PowerPoint as a direct-instruction lesson, and then allow students to work on the worksheet together. Then, the following day, or maybe as an exit ticket, I would assign the Google Forms Quiz, providing students just about 10 minutes to complete the short quiz.
