Description

Complete Lesson Plans and All Activities!

This unit is about writing decimals in expanded notation and form, word form and standard form. Students will compare and order numbers- one billion through one thousandths on number lines and with comparison symbols. They will round and estimate decimals to the hundredths place and add and subtract decimals through the thousandths place. Finally students will solve expressions with decimals with grouping symbols.

I have broken down each TEK into Learning Targets to make it easier to track student progress. There are 7 skills in this unit! Each learning target contains intervention and enrichment skills. A student data sheet is included for students to reflect on their own learning for the unit. A teacher tracking sheet is included to make small group instruction easier!

Each day contains objective, learning targets, materials, whole class teaching activity, guided math activity and closure with an exit ticket and answer key for most days.

Whole Class teaching in this unit contains:

Compare two decimals to thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Use place value understanding to round decimals to any place.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
