I used a few of the resources and adapted it to fit what I needed but it overall was great to go along with the film and teaching trauma with Encanto.

Description

This is a lesson plan that can be used for middle school or high school in social studies, ELA, sociology, or psychology.

The lesson includes a lesson plan, standards, adaptations for group work, independent work, or remote learning, and also includes an option to have a longer lesson (watch the entire movie) or a shorter lesson (using free clips on YouTube).

Essential Question: How does migration impact individuals and future generations?

Content objective: Students will analyze the film Encanto and use literary analysis to analyze how the characters in the film are impacted by migration and intergenerational trauma.

· Character Analysis Resources – a link to each character’s song, lyrics to their song, and articles about psychology that relate to the character

· Character Analysis Worksheet – For students to fill out after they watch the film (or clips of the film)
