Description

Earth Day and The Environment – 15 Graphic Organizers.

This resource is a great resource for any time of the year but particularly useful to observe Earth Day on April 22nd.

The fifteen organizers each have three components: a definition section, a topic section, and a Website Search activity.

The organizer topics are: Acid Rain, Biodegradable, Biodiversity, Conservation, Deforestation, Earth Day, Ecology, Endangered Species, Environment, Environmentalists, Global Warning, Greenhouse Effect, Recycling, Renewable Energy, and Waste Management.

The topic section on each organizer is provided for classroom discussion or research ideas - it is designed to be flexible for you the teacher. You may assign one topic to a student, to a group, or initiate a discussion that could lead to students researching the issue more broadly.

The website search on each organizer includes using a reliable website (the URLs are provided, except in the case where the students use their own community websites) with questions or short-answer topics provided. There is an excellent variety of activities.

An added webquest activity allows the students to use the four topics on each organizer for a total of 60 possibilities! This activity might appeal to younger students but can certainly be used in a high school setting.

With 15 organizers you will have the flexibility to use all or some of them and assign them in your class as you wish. They can be used over the course of a semester/year or focused on for the week(s) before Earth Day. Some of the organizer topics may be easier for younger students - I believe there is enough differentiation for students from grades 7-10 (and even younger advanced students).

I have included answer keys for the definitions (examples only, they are not extensive) and the seven Website Searches that have objective questions.

I have several other Earth Day products in my store (including one for ESL students) and this item has been bundled with "A History of Earth Day" at a discount and can be viewed here:
