Digital Reading Comprehension Passages | Thanksgiving

These informational reading passages require students to use the text to PROVE their answers. The goal is for students to move beyond a literal understanding and to a deeper and more critical evaluation of the text. In the Seesaw version students must go back to the text, find the answer, and then underline the text with the correct color. In the Google version, students read the text and type their responses. Audio is included with both versions. These nonfiction passages are perfect for the month of November.

*There are two passages in this resource that are more difficult and are for advanced students. These passages focus on paragraphs, subheadings, main idea, key details, drawing conclusions, making inferences. While completing these passages, students must write or type their answers. There are some years that I do not use these passages in my first gradeclassroom, but there are other years that they are perfect for my advanced students. During the first reading, I have my students number the paragraphs or subheadings. During the second reading my students take notes directly on the text. They make inferences, draw conclusions, circle vocabulary, etc. As my students complete the comprehension activities, I ALWAYS require them to underline, circle, or highlight the evidence in the text.
