Description

I developed these slides so you didn't have to!

Product 1: Students in my 9th and 10th grade English classes regularly struggle with determining theme and tracing its development. This slide deck minilesson reviews the concept of theme, offers tips and examples for where to uncover elements of theme, and sets students up for success as they practice this skill when actively and closely reading their independent texts.

Includes objectives and I Can statements to focus learning.

Comes with a practice activity and answer key! Teach your students the theme formula so they are able to easily formulate theme statements after reading literary texts. Includes examples from Romeo and Juliet as you review the concept of theme and practice analyzing the development of themes in a text most 10th graders have read.

Product 2: Slidedeck minilesson 2 reviews objective summary, how to write one, and provides examples from Epic of Gilgamesh and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.

Product 3: Includes a Graphic Organizer (a google Doc) for students to use when writing objective summaries of literary texts and an example from Epic of Gilgamesh.

Ready to plug and play in your Google Classroom or LMS of choice.

I developed and taught these lessons after introducing the academic standard using these guided notes. It was the perfect companion lesson to reinforce the academic vocabulary learned after breaking down the academic standard.
