DBQ Introduction Practice

Use this document packet to introduce Document Based Essay Questions (DBQ) to any level history class. Start with the opening warm-up discussion, "What makes a movie a Christmas movie?"

Students should be able then to read the 7 documents in the packet and argue whether the movie Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not.

Go a step further and have students analyze the point of view for the documents and how it influences their opinion.

I also have students write a thesis to practice making their argument.
