Course Syllabus/Outline: Detective Fiction

This document is intended for teachers who are designing a unit on detective fiction or who are creating a semester or yearlong elective course. The file contains ten units that cover the chronological development of the genre. Included are classic detective fiction staples like Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie, along with units on Non-Western detective fiction, contemporary and postmodern detective fiction, and parody/pastiche. Films, short stories, and novels are included in every unit to give instructors choice in the texts they assign.
