Description

Are you looking to teach a high school English elective with a different approach to teaching film? This is a class I wrote about five years ago, and it has been a hit with students. It teaches students to look at film through four different critical lenses:

An AESTHETIC APPROACH

A MYTHOLOGICAL APPROACH

A FEMINIST APPROACH

A POLITICAL APPROACH

I've developed all the curriculum around movies that I love.

You'll get my course outline that was approved by my district. It also went through the University of California approval process and is currently approved for English-elective credit.

In the class, I teach frames of film I find on the internet, clips of film from movies my school has purchased for me or that I buy, and then full length movies that parents sign off on. You'll get the list of all my movies. I've also included the link to my opening slide deck with the kids, and their opening assignment as well. All are embedded in the outline.

I don't have the curriculum organized enough yet to post on TPT, but that is my goal. I am self-taught, and I use the book Looking at Movies to learn everything I needed to, especially for the first unit, the aesthetic approach. Everything else, I have put together over the years.

You can email me at englishenrichmentplace@gmail.com if you have any questions about the outline.
