Are you looking for ways to introduce and strengthen your students' math vocabulary? Try using emergent readers!
This package includes three different black and white versions of the story for the various abilities of your students. The focus of this story is on the use of measurement math vocabulary as it relates to the math concepts of comparing lengths. If you would prefer a colour version, please contact me. Simply print double or single sided, cut the sheets in half, and then staple.
The math words are:
tall, taller, tallest, short, shorter, shortest
High frequency words:
look, said, is, the, at, has, than
Teaching tips are given for before, during and after reading the text.
Follow-Up Activities:
There are three different types of follow up activities provided that can be used to assess or monitor your students' understanding of comparative math vocabulary as it related to measurement.
Uses for This Book and Activities:
These little books and/or the follow-up activity can be used in reading groups, independent reading or sent home for a home reading program.
