College Interest Form (College Research Unit 1st Lesson)
Description
This is an excellent Introduction to college research. If your school is college focused or you just need a interested based activity to get the students engaged, this is an intriguing assignment that gets kids curious about different colleges and their stats. Did you know that the federal government compiles all the FAFSA data? It keeps track of how much money each person who filled out a FAFSA makes over the long term (10 years+). There is a wealth of data on every college that has ever accepted federal funding and it is all at your fingertips. This is the first assignment in my College Research Project Unit. The College Research Project Unit can take anywhere from a month to 3 months depending on how many interruptions us flexible teachers have to endure. It gets kids interested in college stats (with this assignment) but then it has students choose a college to go in-depth on and look at the costs, benefits, majors, and so much more. The College Research Project Unit has students researching a college, writing an essay and doing a presentation on their chosen college. The unit comes with rubrics for easy presentation grading, outlines for research and essay writing and worksheets to scaffold the process, along with directions to walk you through every step of the way.
