Description

This scripted lesson, which has become known as the "Heart Lesson," is used to teach mainstream students to understand and accept autism and other disabilities. The students learn to think of dyslexia, learning disabilities, autism, blindness, deafness, and physical impairments as differences instead of disabilities. The initial activity makes them feel as if they have dyslexia, which in turn makes them highly interested in the lesson. It's great to teach this in April for Autism Awareness month. Happy teaching! ~Brenda
