Description
Students will read and analyze four documents pertaining to archaeology. This would be a perfect tool to begin the discussion of prehistory and importance of primary and secondary source analysis.
Document 1: British archaeologist excavating the ruins of Ur (ancient city in Iraq) briefly discusses his personal account of witnessing the royal tombs of Ur.
*Students will read a paragraph and answer two questions
Document 2: Archaeological Dig in Syria

*Students analyze one image and answer two questions
Document 3: Archaeologist excavates a Neolithic farm village and describes the goldmine to Natural History magazine.
*Students read one paragraph and answer two questions
Document 4: Snippet from Smithsonian magazine's "Testimony from the Iceman" in regards to the significance of the Neolithic traveler, the Iceman.
*Students read one paragraph and answer two questions
This can be assigned as homework, group work to spark discussion in class, work done while a sub is present, etc.
