How does it work?

Each PowerPoint and topic are aligned to the Enduring Understandings, the Learning Objectives, and the Essential Knowledges, as outlined by the AP biology course guide*. Some PowerPoints combine topics that are closely related. Please note: the PowerPoints mix the topics to have the information flow nicely. Each PowerPoint can be edited to make it unique for YOUR classroom!

How much class time will this unit take?

The unit will take approximately eighteen to twenty-one 50-minute class periods. The pace of the unit will depend on the class, the number of activities, and the labs performed.

How can I implement this product into my class?

Every AP teacher is different and has a unique and awesome style for incorporating resources into their own classroom, which is why I made a resource that could be flexible to your own style! There are a few different ways that this resource can be added to your class. The first way this resource can be used is as a tool to guide students through the topics as a class. You can go through the slides (and the questions included in the slides) together to clarify any student misconceptions right away. The second way to use this resource is in the style of a flipped classroom. Students can review it in their own time, or as a homework assignment, and then you can do an activity, worksheet, FRQ, or a project in class afterwards to reinforce their understanding. The third way to use this resource is as a review tool. Every year my students tell me how much they love using these PowerPoints as a study tool before the AP exam*. Any way you use it, it will be a valuable resource for your students!

Why should you purchase this resource from me?

This is a valid question! When I first started teaching AP Biology*, it was tough to say the least. The resources available to me were limited or not beneficial to my students. PowerPoints, especially, were the hardest resource to come by. So, I created this curriculum myself. I aligned it to the AP Biology* course and made it so that my students would actually benefit from the content. The year I started using this curriculum, the pass rate at my school went from an average of 55% to an average of 90%. I received so much positive feedback from my students as well! The best compliment I ever received was when two of my previous students came back to visit me during their freshmen year at college. They came to tell me that my curriculum was the reason they were excelling in their college biology class (and that they were still using my PowerPoints to study)!
