What educators are saying

As a first year AP biology teacher this saved a lot time for me and ensured my students got what they needed.
These PPT's are detailed and engaging. They have made it super simple to plan my day's work to ensure I cover all the course material and make worksheets or class assignments to go along with the day's topics covered. Very useful resource to have!

    Description

NEW and FULLY Updated to the 2019 CED

The AP Biology* exam has been updated for the 2019-2020 school year. You can find the updated course description guide here. Make sure that you and your students are prepared for these changes. Save countless hours of research aligning your content to the new AP Biology* course outline by purchasing this resource.

Included in this bundle are 700+ PPT slides covering the following units:

** For more specific details on what's included in each unit make sure to check out the preview for each unit and if you have questions please email me at gettingdownwithscience@gmail.com**

    • Introduction to Statistics in AP Biology* (combine with Unit 1*)
    • Unit 1: Chemistry of Life
    • Unit 2: Cell Structure and Function
    • Unit 3: Cellular Energetics
    • Unit 4: Cell Communication and Cell Cycle
    • Unit 5: Heredity
    • Unit 6: Gene Expression and Regulation
    • Unit 7: Natural Selection
    • Unit 8: Ecology

    Each unit includes:

    • Graphics that are professional and help with student learning
    • Embedded review and critical thinking questions and/or math practice with step-by-step solutions**
    • FRQs designed to mimic the style of questions students will see on the AP exam*

Note: For Unit 1, I suggest combining it with the Introduction to Statistics PPT to cover the basic graphing/statistics skills required, as that ties into all subsequent units. Some units are math heavy while others are not. Units that require math skills will contain more math practice problems. Some units do not require any additional math to that covered in the Introduction to Statistics PowerPoint.

    How does it work?

Each PowerPoint and topic are aligned to the Enduring Understandings, the Learning Objectives, and each Essential Knowledge, as outlined by the AP Biology* course guide. Some PowerPoints combine topics that are closely related. Please note: some of the PowerPoints mix the topics to have the information flow nicely.

These are a no prep resource and are ready to be used in the classroom. However, if you want to customize them you CAN, because each PowerPoint can be edited to make it unique for YOUR classroom! If you do customize the PowerPoints, I recommend that you add images from the textbook that your students use (I cannot add textbook images due to copyright laws). Adding textbook images will help to further enhance student learning. My favorite AP Biology textbook is Campbell Biology In Focus AP Edition.

How much class time will this unit take?

These PowerPoints cover the information needed for a full year AP Biology* course. Please refer to the updated CED here for more specific pacing guides suggested for each unit.

How can I implement this product into my class?

Every AP teacher is different and has a unique and awesome style for incorporating resources into their own classroom, which is why I made a resource that could be flexible to your own style! There are a few different ways that this resource can be added to your class. The first way this resource can be used is as a tool to guide students through the topics as a class. You can go through the slides (and the questions included in the slides) together to clarify any student misconceptions right away. The second way to use this resource is in the style of a flipped classroom. Students can review it in their own time, or as a homework assignment, and then you can do an activity, worksheet, FRQ, or a project in class afterwards to reinforce their understanding. The third way to use this resource is as a review tool. Every year my students tell me how much they love using these PowerPoints as a study tool before the AP exam. Any way you use it, it will be a valuable resource for your students!

Why should you purchase this resource from me?

This is a valid question! When I first started teaching AP Biology*, it was tough to say the least. The resources available to me were limited or not beneficial to my students. PowerPoints, especially, were the hardest resource to come by. So, I created this curriculum myself. I aligned it to the AP Biology* course and made it so that my students would actually benefit from the content. The year I started using this curriculum, the pass rate at my school went from an average of 55% to an average of 92%. I received so much positive feedback from my students as well! The best compliment I ever received was when two of my previous students came back to visit me during their freshmen year at college. They came to tell me that my curriculum was the reason they were excelling in their college biology class (and that they were still using my PowerPoints to study)!
