With over 300 pages of adapted, differentiated and multisensory resources for squares, triangles, circles, and rectangles, this 2D Shapes BUNDLE is perfect for students who are learning to identify two-dimensional shapes. Each shape has its own set of resources, which not only provides multiple exposures to the presented information in different ways, but also allows for students to interact with the content at an appropriate developmental level based upon their current academic abilities and while using their mode of communication (e.g., pointing, oral identification, writing, AAC device, Velcro-based moveable pieces, etc.).

2D Shapes Counting to 10 Books

Students will practice counting and identifying numbers to 10 using rectangles, squares, triangles, or circles and a ten-frame model. These counting books are repetitive in nature and the correct number has been pre-filled in the blank.

2D Shapes Books and Scaffolded Notes

Students will join Rex the Rectangle, Sally the Square, Travis the Triangle, and Cindy the Circle to learn all about rectangles, squares, triangles, and circles. Each book is adapted, interactive, and repetitive in nature, sharing a lot of different things about each shape from providing a kid-friendly definition, examples of real-world objects, and pictures to cut and paste or make into Velcro-based moveable pieces. To ensure students have retained the information that they have learned from Rex the Rectangle, Sally the Square, Travis the Triangle, and Cindy the Circle, they can complete one of the many scaffolded notes options. All of the notes were created using the cloze method with there being three fill-in-the-blank versions and two matching versions.

2D Shapes Activities

Students will complete various activities about rectangles, squares, triangles, and circles. Each two-dimensional shape has the same EIGHT activities, all of which are differentiated, adapted, and interactive, include multiple options, and created using a multisensory approach to promote an increased understanding. These two-dimensional shapes activities target fine-motor, sorting, matching, counting, and identification skills while simultaneously encouraging students to use grade-level academic vocabulary.

Identify two- and three-dimensional figures regardless of their size. Figures are limited to circles, triangles, rectangles, squares, spheres, cubes, cones and cylinders.

MA.K.NSO.1.AP.1

Given a group of up to 10 objects, count the number of objects in that group and represent the number by identifying the written numeral.

MA.K.NSO.1.AP.2

Given a number from 0 to 10, count out that many objects.

MA.K.DP.1.AP.1

Sort objects by characteristic (e.g., size, shape or color). Count the objects in each category and report the results.
