Deaf Awareness Week- Voice off 24 hours Homework

This is a fun activity for Deaf Awareness Week. Not only does it challenge your students to use their ASL knowledge to communicate with those around them, but it also allows others to learn how to communicate using new methods. Your students might be frustrated at first, but most students can find ways to communicate (especially with technology). Make sure you clearly explain to students that they are not suppose to pretend they are Deaf (that would be culturally inappropriate).Microsoft Word

God Bless America in Signs

American Sign Language (ASL) is a language all its own. It is conceptual and has its own syntax. However, when the interpreter signs a song as others sing, this syntax is often mixed with English syntax so that the order of words matches more closely with the words being sung audibly. This product presents the song in sign illustrations as it would be signed while someone sang aloud. This is followed by a chart with explanations for the signs used to represent each word concept.
