Art Smartboard Game/Lesson - Subject Matter (Portrait, Still Life & Landscape)
I use this smartboard file as a game and/or review to help students understand the concept of subject matter in art.
It has 3 categories:
1. Still Life
2. Portrait
3. Landscape
There are pictures of famous artists' art that they have to drag and place under the correct heading. Then they need to explain why they feel it should go there. Some are a little tricky but, it's perfect for helping students understand what to look for in a work of art.

Plants: Lesson 8: Pollination & Angiosperm Reproduction
Students explore pollination and angiosperm reproduction by looking at real flowers, playing online games, reading stories, drawing and more. As a brain break, students also have a run-around scavenger hunt to review previous plant information.
This lesson may take 2-3 class periods, depending on how long your class periods are. I did this in 2 90 minute periods. That being said, there are additional relevant do-nows, hooks etc. included at the end so you can rearrange each day as you like.

"Amigo Brothers" Character Trait Match
Students enjoy the short story "Amigo Brothers" by Piri Tomas. Even more, they enjoy matching the character traits on the Smart Board. I have students search for traits and place them in their Interactive Notebook (journal) then add additional traits they may have missed. There are two slides with 15 traits total.
