I am always trying to figure out what to do with my little primary groups, and this unit was a definite hit with my kindergartners. It would work well with 1st grade too or the regular 2nd grade classroom. The full unit contains more than 2 hours of contact time.
It’s active, fun, and challenging for these little ones and seemed to have the right combination of “get up and move,” imagination, creativity, and “making” along with academic tasks.

A great mini unit based off of the book Stellaluna, that incorporates both fiction and non fiction books. Worksheets and graphic organizers to use with Stellaluna, and with the nonfiction article included in the unit. Math pages to review subtraction with regrouping, place value and basic addition. Students can learn about the parts of a part by having their own diagram to fill in. End the unit by researching more facts in non-fiction books like National Geographic Bats, Rookie Reader Its a go
