I created this project for my seventh grade ELA class, but it could very easily be adapted for 6th or 8th grade. The project will take about 2-3 weeks depending on the length/difficulty of the biographies your students use. There are several grading opportunities throughout the project, including three rubrics (one for the essay, one for the multimedia slideshow, and one for their actual presentation.) Autobiography/Biography/Memoir Book Report Assignment and Rubric
A non-fiction literature genre study includes the directions for students and the grading criteria. I work with my librarian to do a targeted book check out with my students. Students have four weeks to complete the reading and assignment. We map our progress goals and check in each week to ensure we are on track to complete the book report.
