"Check" In Elementary Students Check In
Students will use the key to help them check in on how they are feeling. This can be done in two parts one shoe can be colored in during their initial check-in with the counselor (how they are feeling at the current moment) and the other shoe can be colored in later in the school day (with permission from the teacher or during tough time in class). As they are coloring in take note of how the feelings and reasonings match as they begin to explain the reason they are using certain colors.

Behavior Reflection: Causes and Consequences
Students complete this form to bring awareness on the causes and consequences of their actions. The form can be completed by non-literate students using drawings or sketches. A key element of the form is to identify "triggers" or causes for problematic behavior. I have used this form at diverse grade levels and has proven to be very effective in creating awareness and reducing the occurrence of behavior problems and conflict.
