This is a simplified, step-by-step writing support for struggling writers. I use these graphic organizers most with students who have writing accommodations and modifications.
The graphic organizer sets up a five paragraph persuasive essay in sentence-by-sentence format. Students are prompted to write one sentence in each box, making the task manageable. The boxes give a visual cue to both teacher and student as to whether or not the paragraph/essay is complete. This is a very basic organizer.

How to Write a Good Film Review PowerPoint Presentation
This is a power point presentation modeling exemplary and poor examples of paragraphs in a movie review. First I give the information they need in the paragraph, then I show them an exemplary example, then a poor example. It is about 16 slides and should take about 20 minutes to go through. I found that students' reviews would come back much more thoughtful and focused around the direction and the story line.

When teaching the film, Schindler's list, I found the students were not able to follow the film as well as the others they had seen. I wanted to offer a guide the students could refer to for characters and events. They are required to fill in most of the information, but it will help them to look for the pertinent information and characters. It also has 6 discussion questions for students to discuss aspects of the film in groups.
