STEM Egg Drop Challenge
Purpose: Use the concepts of inertia, force, speed, acceleration, and Newton’s Laws, as well as internet research and prototype testing to design a container that will protect a raw egg from breaking.
Challenge: Design and build a container, using a budget, that will protect a raw egg from breaking when dropped from 2 meters off the ground, then 3 meters, then 4 meters, and so on. The winning team is the one that protects the egg from the highest drop using the least amount of money.

Series vs. Parallel Circuits PowerPoint Animation
This is an original PowerPoint animation that demonstrates the different between a series circuit and a parallel circuit. It shows both the standard circuit symbols, as well as pictures, complete with batteries, light bulbs, and wires. The animation shows what happens when a bulb is removed from each circuit, demonstrating that a complete loop (circuit) is necessary in order for current to flow. The Great Egg Drop Experiment and Challenge
This is such a fun family or school activity. Teaming siblings with grandparents, aunts, and uncles to compete on a sunny afternoon or great in a classroom setting. The packet is simple and to the point with general challenge details, rules, suggested materials, and room to sketch designs. Once complete, students use the back page to draw the finished product and answer some questions about what they learned.

Helicopter Drop (Forces)
Helicopter Drop by Bryce Hixson
Take a single strip of copy paper and make three cuts and five folds to create a ready-to-fly helicopter. You can experiment with surface area and friction, and have a lot of fun adapting the design. Great way to teach the effect of gravity and friction on a falling object, experiment with torque and changing forces, and open the door to imagination and engineering.

This lesson is intended as a review of newton's three laws of motion prior to 8th grade state testing. There are three basic materials, the google slides, the cards, and this worksheet. The worksheet was originally used in a remote setting and can be modified to be printed as a scaffold for students but is not necessary for the lesson.
