I made this video over the course of several months in my backyard Sonoran Desert. It follows a 200-year-old giant cactus budding, blooming, being pollinated (by bees), fruiting and being eaten (by birds), seed scattering (by coyotes), planting (by ants), and (unexpectedly) losing an arm and decaying. The 22 minute video is interactive and invites long pauses with student inquiry about why plants and animals DO the things that they do and how those actions help them live in their environment. I

This 23 minute video covers the life cycle processes of butterflies and moths, using Pokémon as an example. The concept is reinforced as I cover 10+ species of butterflies and moths and the characteristics that inspired the creation of many different insect Pokémon. Afterwards, you can extend the lesson by challenging students to design their own butterfly or moth Pokémon with "evolutions" that have the same life cycle as the real deal.
