This percent activity is designed to help students gain familiarity with the double number line to solve percent problems. This way of thinking develops students' conceptual understanding of percentages by attending to the meaning of percents. In this introduction, students only deal with problems where they are given the percentage and the whole and need to find the part; i.e. find 40% of 60. Note that a couple problems involve percentages over 100% and the last problem has a decimal answer.Che
