Equivalent Fraction Understanding - Level 1 of this series demonstrates the equal areas of two equivalent fractions. However, in Level 2, the mathematical meaning is that the two fractions are equivalent due to the fact that they student is ACTUALLY multiplying by 1 WHOLE (2/2, 3/3, 4/4, etc.) - The Multiplicative Identity Property.
Level 2 is multiplication only.
However, the process is stair stepped. Level 2 only has missing denominators and numerators on the trailing fraction - which is t

This document contains 8 of these weekly tests that you can give to your students once a week. During this week I encourage my students to make corrections on these by giving back full credit on corrections they can show me they understand the concepts of. Many times this opens up conversations and reteaching of this material. The concepts of this test are common core concepts from the first three quarters that I saw my students struggling with, based off our final from first semester and our un
This reflection sheet flow chart provides my students with an opportunity to self-reflect after a moment of frustration. It allows students to not only reflect on an incident or moment of weakness, but also think through where their frustration came, and what they can do differently next time. This document supports the mindset of goal-setting and finishes with an official signature from the student, the adult present, and the student's parents. This behavior reflection is aligned to the ABC form

Equivalent Fractions...
A string of proper fractions and the students must fill in the missing denominator or numerator.
The student should be reminded that they are computing equivalent fractions by mathematically multiplying by 1 Whole in the form of an improper fraction (i.e. 2/2, 3/3, 4/4, etc.)
Students must know basic math facts. Procedure on this website wtih resources...Accelerated Math Fact Mastery...and the Readers' Digest version.
Best of luck with your students. Blaine Helwig
Mathematicians have been searching to discover a single tile that forms a pattern, but never repeats. It has finally been identified, and it is a 13-sided shape known as “the hat.” Identified by David Smith, a nonprofessional mathematician who describes himself as an “imaginative tinkerer of shapes,” and reported in a paper posted online March 20 at arXiv.org, the hat is a polykite — a bunch of smaller kite shapes stuck together.Follow Us on Twitter @NewsLessonPlans Make learning rigorous &
This is a lesson on the application of the Game Theory into the creation and use of the Atomic Bomb. It begins with a "bellwork" on the creation and use and the controversy surrounding when and how one should be used. Then the lesson goes into what Game Theory is and the Prisoner's Dilemma and then the lesson continues with the application of both onto the creation and use of the Atomic Bomb.
Equivalent Fractions - Student Understanding - Using the Identity Principle of Multiplication and Division.
Numerical - both division and multiplication.
NOTE 1: Level 2 is ONLY multiplication.
NOTE 2: Students need to know their math facts to proficiency. This task is not as daunting as one may think. There are papers on math facts on this website that details on how to do this for nearly 100% of the students in any classroom - Title 1 or non-Title 1.
This powerpoint presentation has 21 slides of Math Multiplication Tables :

Equivalent Fractions - Lowest Terms Practice...
10 practice sheets...2 columns...plenty of room for the student to work the problems.
Hopefully, they have learned their math facts...and they reduce the fractions to simplest form...and then check to make sure that the GCF is 1 on the reduced fraction. "One and Done - LT Confirmed" is the expression we used at Graham so the student checked that the GCF was 1...and the REDUCED FRACTION was in Lowest terms.
Best to you and your students, Blaine H
A illustrative classroom poster on customary - Capacity - units and their relationship to one another. The customary units for capacity are difficult for students. This poster can be blown up to any size and printed, laminated (to use in multiple school years) and hung in the classroom for ready reference. These slides are a step-by-step lesson for teaching students how to multiply integers. The lesson begins with 4 warm-up problems of adding integers, then an explanation of the rules of multiplying, followed by 6 examples. The “step-by-step” format of each slide allows you to have all your key points and examples created ahead of time which allows you to click through the slides and talk about each example and the process for multiplying integers. I love to give this lesson on my ipad, while cir

These are the directions on how to make the Driver's Licenses. It is an affordable and easy process to do - and the kiddos really like them. I would like them if I were their age. A person will need the directions in PDF and the Templates (Word Document) - Another file for FREE download on this site. These work like a charm and they are really nice - and they come with a great price - NOTHING! Hope some folks can use them.
