American Sign Language (ASL) is a language all its own. It is conceptual and has its own syntax. However, when the interpreter signs a song as others sing, this syntax is often mixed with English syntax so that the order of words matches more closely with the words being sung audibly.
This product presents the song in sign illustrations as it would be signed while someone sang aloud. This is followed by a chart with explanations for the signs used to represent each word concept.

With that in mind, signs have been provided in this lesson that match the beat and words of the song "Happy Birthday" (rather than true ASL syntax). In other words, you can sing the song with your voice while you sign the concepts at the same time.
