They do not infer the meanings of everyday idiomatic expressions and these need to be taught explicitly and then applied in real life situations. I have created three sets of matching cards (this is the first set) to help explicitly teach some of the common idioms used in the English language. This is a simple product. I would print these on card stock so that you cannot see throug

Exponent Dice Game

I created this dice game for students to practice exponents after our multiplication lesson on exponents. The strategy of the game is to choose the base and exponent that will give you the highest answers, because at the end the students will have to total up their answers in order to see who wins with the highest total. This helps with number sense, multiplication practice, and understanding exponential form.

A fun yet simple game that can be used at the start of the school year, after a long break, or introducing students to each other. Print out the 8 boards and 1 statement sheet, laminate, and pass the bingo boards out to the students. Even though there are only 8 boards you can play this game with any number of students! Middle School First Day of School Activity (Math)

I use this first day of school activity to get to know the students and get them started with mathmatical thinking on our first day together. The students complete the worksheet, adding up all the numbers at the end, then as a class we order the totals and assign special names to each student based on their order. It isn't age specific, but I find that my Middle School students were very engaged by the process.
