A Bundle of Hearts
Happy Valentine's Day!! Your students will love this activity! You can use the hearts for a project you had in mind or the students can make a collage or Valentine's Day card for Mom, Dad or whoever they choose to say, "I love you!" They can color the hearts with a crayon, colored pencil or whatever medium you choose. Of all student usage "sins", writing run-on sentences is probably the most common, and one of the most grievous. Composition graders grit their teeth when they see this obvious sign of a lack of sentence control. Mine did. They were using words like good and bad. I made this resource to give them a variety of words to help them describe characters.
Each page also contains a definition, picture, and synonyms.
You can hang these up in your classroom or print them for student use. My kids use these all the time and love them!

Mother's Day Haiku Poem Activity
The Haiku poem is a beautiful way to write about a topic using descriptive imagery. This two-page handout includes a short background of the haiku poem, directions, and an example haiku.
