This parent letter is a great way to introduce them to the Accelerated Reader (AR) program and explain what it is all about! It has some basic information, a place to list the child's colors (or reading levels) and some questions they can use at home to help their child continue to grow in their reading ability. I send a copy home and also include one in a sheet protector in the child's AR Folder. It would also make a great addition to Parent Teacher Conferences.

Send this to presents or use as a presentation to help parents read for learning with their children. Are you tired of hearing, especially in the primary grades, "my child doesn't take 20 minutes to read this book, it's way too easy!"? Then send this power point to parents OR better yet hold a workshop for parents to teach them how to do a mini guided reading lesson.
