This worksheet allows students the space to compose rhythms using quarter note, quarter rest, beamed eighth notes, and sixteenth notes. Students should each receive a handful of navy beans. They should also receive a paper or sentence strip with 4 sections on it. Each section represents a beat and each bean represents an individual sound. 1 sound in 1 beat = quarter note. 2 sounds in 1 beat = eighth notes. 0 sounds in 1 beat = quarter rest. 4 sounds in 1 beat = sixteenth notes Students
