This is a handwritten listening map for Tchaikovsky's "The Crane" that I used with my 2nd grade music students.This is one of several listening map examples that I created and used to demonstrate the process of connecting sound and symbol (shapes, etc.). I asked students how they thought my designs in each section were related to the sounds in each section. After two more examples from me, I gave my students a chance to create their own listening map based on handwritten designs and symbols.
