This movie is a must in my public speaking class. I use this movie to preface our debate unit as well as to demonstrate how public speaking is not just a required course, but a useful tool that can motivate and inspire people.

Heartstopper Unit (Season 1)
I LOVE the Heartstopper show so much that I created a unit to share the show with my Grade 7 and 8 classes last year. This show has so much going for it: positive representation of a diverse cast, representation of how to set boundaries in relationships, the importance of communication in any relationship. Not to mention all the amazing media and literary devices used to highlight emotion and pique viewer interest. This unit is aligned with the Ontario Curriculum (Language 2023 and Health 2019)

Leadership and Problems in Apollo 13
Apollo 13 is an iconic movie that I always used to introduce problem solving. The best scene for this is when the engineers attempt to fix the aircraft by creating a new filter. Because the film is about all of the problems on the Apollo 13 spacecraft and how the astronauts and engineers attempt to bring it home safely, I often had students analyze the problems and assess how they were remedied.

Fairytale and Fable Unit Game: Name that Allusion! for Shrek
This handout is designed as a fun classroom activity that also teaches students about genre-specific allusions. While students view the movie *Shrek,* they use this handout to spot allusions to fairy tales, fables, and pop culture. The handout contains over 30 allusions with additional blanks for students to add their own. When I use this game in my class, the student who spots and correctly explains where the most allusions occur in the movie wins a prize.

Brain Games Language Episode (Communication Unit)
This worksheet handout is from the show, "Brain Games" and is particularly helpful when you are teaching a communication unit because it discusses language. On Amazon Prime it is Season 4, Episode 3.
