Do your students love doodle notes, sketch notes and visual note taking? Mine sure do! Unfortunately there aren't many resources like that out there for Texas History! THAT is where I come in! Major Issues faced by the Republic of Texas Sketch Notes
Sketch notes -Republic of Texas. I paired this with a Create your own Red-Backs activity where students got to design their own currency for the Republic of Texas. I also added a sorting activity ( Successes and challenges of the RoT) I'm pretty sure I got it from Teaching in the Fast Lane. (If you stop by her store on TPT tell her I sent you! She has some seriously great stuff! (No, I'm not benefiting from saying that I just really love her stuff!)

I use this under my Doc cam and give a copy to students. I then do an overview of the what will be learned in the unit by writing notes, titles, names, dates ect next to the pictures.

The Modern Historian
The Representative Government Graphic Notes are used to explain what events lead towards the idea of Representative Government. I have the students trace their hand and then I go through each of the events. There are a few small visuals for each event to help make the connection. I continuously hold my hand up as a reference to Rep. Government throughout the semester, and they make the quick connection.
