Fairytales and "Coraline"
I use this to teach the characteristics of fairy tales and then watch "Coraline" with my class to show how fairy tales have evolved over time. After this, I task my students to write their own fairy tale, making sure to use at least 5 of the "characteristics" we talk about.

Interactive Attendance Sheet - Spring Time
A new way of taking attendance which gets students actively involved. Instead of calling out names, every morning I display this Smartboard page, in which students names are placed on a tree. Students click their name and their name flies away and a calming song is played. The names that are left are the students who are not present.
I've used this with high school and elementary and students of all ages enjoy this new twist on an otherwise boring morning routine.

Adding Ending Punctuation
A sentence must end with punctuation. Not every sentence ends with a period. Using punctuations makes writing easier to read. With this activity, students will be focusing on understanding when to use a period, a question mark, and an exclamation point. Included is a slide to introduce the lesson’s objective. The what?
