Canva AI Storyboard: Using AI Image Creators for ELA Plot
Teach students to use an AI Image creator (Magic Media in Canva) to portray the mental images they imagine while reading. This assignment has the steps to get to Magic Media, tips for better the student experience using the app, and instructions to turn in the assignment. Many AI image creators are blocked through school firewalls; if your school has access to Canva, you should have access to Magic Media. I encourage you to check before purchasing this assignment.

Interactive Lesson in Poetry and Music
Getting students excited about poetry and figurative language can be difficult. I find that putting it into terms of music often with popular songs makes the process more enjoyable for them and myself. This product contains a powerpoint with links to videos, worksheets which examine both figurative language and poetry, and most of is an interactive lesson that will have your students singing while they're learning.

Plants: Lesson 8: Pollination & Angiosperm Reproduction
Students explore pollination and angiosperm reproduction by looking at real flowers, playing online games, reading stories, drawing and more. As a brain break, students also have a run-around scavenger hunt to review previous plant information.
This lesson may take 2-3 class periods, depending on how long your class periods are. I did this in 2 90 minute periods. That being said, there are additional relevant do-nows, hooks etc. included at the end so you can rearrange each day as you like.

RL 2.1 Who, what, when, where, why, how Helpful Hints
My students were having a hard time understanding and remembering the difference between some of these (especially why and how), so I created this. I posted it on my smartboard so students could see it while we were practicing these concepts. Langston Hughes Poetry with Expression and Phrasing
This smartboard file contains two lessons for expression and phrasing within poetry. The students will listen to Maya Angelou as a model for reciting poetry and then they will turn to Langston Hughes. With his poetry the teacher will model how to read a poem and determine the correct expression and phrasing to use.
