This Reader's Theater is my favorite November/Thanksgiving script! It was written for a small group of 4 students. The title explains it all. This true story is about one of my favorite Thanksgiving events! In the script, President Lincoln was given a turkey to be eaten for Christmas dinner. Tad Lincoln adopted it as a pet, named him Jack, and taught it to follow him around the White House grounds. The Hosts of the Little Known Historical Facts Show present the story of how the turkey Jack manag

This is a Reader's Theater written for 3 students. In the script, Romeo and Juliet are starting to perform their play when Romeo admits he can't understand a word being said. Shakespeare has to explain it to them. I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. My scripts are in black and white with only the occasional color picture on front so they are easier and cheaper to photo copy. The problem with many other reader's the

The date is January 23, 1909 and the Jersey Devil has been spotted all week. Its footprints have been found in the snow in fields, backyards, and even on roofs. No one seems to be able to stop it. A policeman has come to interview a woman who claims to have found the Jersey Devil trying to eat her dog. This story has been taken from a real report written at that time. The Jersey Devil is a character that many claim to have seen and even believe that it is still around to this day. The writing pr

This script was written for three students and for Halloween. In the script: A sweet little boy is allowed to stay up on Halloween and eat nothing but candy. It isn’t long before he is being rude and mean. He ends up staying up too late and gets a stomach ache. He has become, Franken-Cranky! The next day, his rude and terrible behavior continues. Mom and dad get him to bed early and are thankful when their sweet little boy returns. The next Halloween they are more careful. The lesson for my stud

This small group reader's theater is for three students. In the scrip there is a former turkey, turned ghost, who can't seem to scare anyone. A boy and girl come along to help out so everyone can have a happy Halloween. My students enjoyed using this script to increase their fluency. I hope yours do too. If you like it look for more Halloween scripts at my stor

This reader's theater was written for a small group of 3 students. I created to be used in November for Thanksgiving because my students kept making comments about white and dark meat. We used this script to begin a debate. In the script, Michael is having trouble explaining to his customers what the difference between white and dark turkey meat is. He wants to sound like he knows what he is doing so he asks his friends, Alice and Alex, to explain it to him. Unfortunately, Alex is more confusing

This is just a funny script about the farmers in three old nursery songs - Old MacDonald, Bingo, and The Farmer in the Dell. When #1 is singing the song - Bingo, #2 tells them that Bingo might be the name of the farmer and not the name of the dog. #3 is skeptical and doesn’t believe it but #1 starts thinking about it. Pretty soon they start talking about other songs that have a farmer in them. By the end of the story, #1 and #2 think that all three songs are about a farmer named Old Bingo MacDon
