I created this unit plan to serve as a general nonfiction overview. The unit was created for fourth and fifth grade readers who were below grade level, mainly due to poor comprehension. This could be used with high second graders or third graders as well. The skills covered in the unit include close reading, paraphrasing, identifying differences between genres, identifying the main idea, and answering literal right-there questions.
