I have used this "Articulation Graphic" for years to give a "non-linguistic representation" for how long notes should be tongued for tonguing, staccato, accent, marcato, tenuto, slur, half note, and dotted half notes. This is a Back to School Themed lesson planner I created for my piano students. It contains space to list song, homework, and technique assignments as well as a "word of the week" area for students to practice their note naming on both staves each week. Curriculum Map for JH Band (Sample)
Best viewed in Microsoft as a word doc. Mac or PC: Margins should be .5 on all sides. This curriculum was created for my final capstone project in curriculum design for my master's degree in music education. The map was designed in a grid form that can be downloaded and edited! I did not include the 30-page paper outlining the details of the curriculum choices - only uploading a new format for music teachers looking to outline band courses.

4/4 Measure Division Pie
At first, I made these out of styrofoam plates by hand to use in my music classroom to help my students visualize the divisions and subdivisions that fit into a measure. Later we used them to help students come up with more inventive rhythms for their composition assignments. If you think of other uses, let me know! This freebie is for 4/4 time.
